The Future of Living – From Smart Home to Smart Living?

About 30 years ago, the PC made its way into everyday life. Since then, he has changed our life and society significantly. But how will the digital reality be in another 30 years? From Smart Home to Smart Living – Experts have made a prognosis for the year 2050.

Here are the visions how our future will look alike:

Robots are omnipresent:

Smart home

In all likelihood, billions of robots have joined the billions of people on Earth, who will relieve us from tiresome and heavy work. Humanity will focus on further improving the software for the robots. Today, we are developing apps in the IT industry, but in the future, we will develop companies which will be looking after robot software.

Man and machine merge:

Smart home

At the same time, especially in medicine, the border between man and machine becomes permeable. In 2045, we will manufacture and transplant electronically controlled artificial organs and prostheses. Tiny nano-robots selectively deliver drugs in our bodies or perform minor procedures on their own. Smart sensors are monitoring our health, which store the data in cloud-based storage accessible to physicians. All this will significantly increase life expectancy.

Smart Home does routine tasks:

Smart home

The home environment will change as well. Smart Home automatically takes care of the daily duties, be it the supply of water and energy, or the refrigerator does not empty. Residents can concentrate on having enough money in their bank account to settle their bills.

Hyper Intelligence:

Smart home

Our digital alter egos are developing in 2050 and network in a self-regulated worldwide infrastructure. This system takes care of the livelihoods on earth and the distribution of resources. It protects against armed conflicts and organizes humanitarian actions. Moderator rights and thus the most influence on the system have the most active and successful users.

3D printers – Fast and Cheap:

Smart home

Gone is the time of boring, industrial mass-produced goods. Whether crockery or clothing, with 3D printers everyone can make their household items or garments and make their own. But that will also apply to the building materials of our homes.

PC is replacing by smart devices:

Smart home

The PC, the father of the IT boom that began 30 years ago, has its remaining 30 years and can only be visited in the museum. He is being replaced by a large number of highly specialized, smart devices that are taking over their current functions. This also applies, for example, to companies: instead of the employees who now keep their books on the PC, tomorrow there will be specialized, company-controlled servers that can independently evaluate the corresponding electronic documents.

The rapid development of IT does not make it easy to predict exactly how the world will look in three decades. And yet it turns out that our technologies are getting smarter every year and people need to keep up with this.

Whatever the world will be like in 30 years, we should start making it more comfortable and safer. With the smart home, we also will have to be smart. Technology gives us the tools for that. Whether we use them for good or evil is up to us alone.

Forget Wi-Fi: FUTURE is in Li-Fi Technology

YES, Li-Fi is the future and Wi-Fi will be outdated in the future. Li-Fi is a “Light Fidelity”. A wireless technology called the Li-Fi caused a sensation by achieving transmission speeds that were about 100 times faster than average WiFi network speeds in a real-world test. Li-Fi is based on data transmission by means of visible light.

Researchers in Saudi Arabia have now succeeded in developing a Li-Fi lamp that surpasses previous speed records by a factor of 40.

Data transmission with visible light:

The invention of Li-Fi attributes to the Scottish communications expert Harald Haas. In 2011, he has proven for the first time that he is able to transmit data much faster than any other mobile radio standard using a flickering LED. It uses a technology called Visible Light Communication (VLC), which transmits data at frequencies between 400 and 800 terahertz.

Basically, the Li-Fi technology directly compares with a Morse code – only it is much more complex. The flickering of the LED do not perceive by the human eye, so we get the impression of a constantly burning lamp. The LEDs can, therefore, function as lighting in offices or even at home while wirelessly transferring data to computers, mobile phones, and tablets.

New speed record:

In November last year, a tech company from Estonia called Velmenni tested for the first time under real conditions, not in a laboratory. They achieved transfer speeds of an impressive one gigabyte per second in office and industrial buildings. In the lab, they even reached 224 gigabits per second, which is about 28 gigabytes per second. Thus, the current Wi-Fi transmission speeds are exceeded by a factor of 100.

Researchers at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia have developed a new generation Li-Fi, setting another new speed record.

Most VLC devices use LEDs that produce white light. Blue diode uses and combines with phosphorus. Part of the resulting radiation is converted to red and green light. The three colors together then make the white light. The transmission over such VLC devices is limited to 100 million bits per second. This is due to the time it takes to convert the light to white light.

Nanocrystals provide data high speed:

The researchers from Saudi Arabia used a completely different method. They rely on nanocrystals of cesium lead bromide and combine these with nitride phosphor. When the crystals illuminate with a blue laser, the crystals emit green light while the nitride produces red light. It also results in a white light here. According to the team, it was possible to increase the frequency of LED flickering, and transfer rates of 2 billion bits per second are possible – the new technology transmits 40 times more data than the Li-Fi used so far. The next step is to follow a test under real conditions.

Li-Fi: data transmission of the future:

Li-Fi will turn out to be the new transmission standard. However, the signs are good. Allegedly, Apple is already working on making the technology compatible with the iPhone.

7 Less Known Hidden Features of Latest Android Oreo 8.0

The new version of Android is now official and it will be with Android Oreo 8.0. This new version has a lot of changes in memory, and most likely you already know most of them.

But, today we will show you 7 lesser known, hidden features of android Oreo that will definitely improve your experience even further.

Android Oreo

# 1 – Hi-Fi Bluetooth Codec:

Bluetooth has always been criticized for its lower audio quality when compared to wired headphones. But nowadays 3.5mm jack is becoming less standard. The major smartphone makers are getting rid of it and focusing more on wireless audio, and that’s enough to conclude that we’re now living in a wireless world. At least that’s what the OEMs think before removing the headphone jack.

# 2 – Notification Channel:

Android Oreo focuses more on notification management and that is why they added a new feature called “notification channel”. With this feature, you can choose between less helpful and useful notification for a particular app.

# 3 – Adaptive Symbols:

With this Adaptive Symbols feature in Android 8.0, now developers can develop a single unified app icon, and then the system will do the rest. If an app offers an Adaptive Icon, Android Oreo automatic crop and aligns according to the system settings.

# 4 – Autofill API:

The Autofill APIs introduced with Android O simply try to help apps manage passwords and form data better than in previous versions of Android. The app’s Autofill feature stores and protects user data such as addresses, usernames, and even passwords on the associated Autofill app. For example, if you open an app like Twitter, and you want to log in to your account, now this will automatically show you the suggestion to your username, once selected, it will automatically fill in the password and you are good to go,

This feature will definitely save you from the hassle of repeatedly entering the same information on a touchscreen keyboard.

# 5 – Snooze Notifications:

As we have mentioned earlier, Android Oreo focuses more on notification management. So, here’s another cool hidden feature was in Android Oreo and by using this you can get the snooze notifications.

For example, you have a WhatsApp message, and you want to read that later on. Just swipe the notification to the right and tap the clock icon to snooze notification. This will cause the message to go away for 15 minutes, then come back when the time runs out.

# 6 – Built-in File Manager & Cleaner:

The previous versions of Android have been criticized by the users for not having its own built-in file manager. But in the Android nougat, we had a hidden file manager inside memory setting and that was very basic.

Android’s built-in file manager is not the best on the market, but it’s nice to have a way to browse the files without installing an additional app.

# 7 – Picture-in-Picture:

Last year Android nougat brought picture-in-picture mode that effectively reduces the size of a video in a floating window. But when this was launched, it was only for Android TV but not anymore. Now with this new Android Oreo update, you can use this feature on your smartphones too.

The Future of Transport – Hyperloop Technology

Hyperloop, a high-speed transport system, consists of capsules for people and goods that race through closed tubes and reach speeds that are higher than in an airplane. First drive tests have already taken place. One manufacturer wants to build a passable line later this year. Is not that – in a double sense – all a bit very fast? How should such a pace be made technically possible, how safe can such a system be, and how does the human body react?

What is Hyperloop Exactly?

Hyperloop is the futuristic transport system. It is a mode of transport that propels a pod through a low-pressure tube at theoretical speeds of up to 1000 Km/h. The low air resistance allows the pod to travel faster than conventional trains.

How Hyperloop System Works?

Just 35 minutes from San Francisco to Los Angeles – and for $20: The founder of Paypal and Tesla has presented an ambitious transport project. The basis for this is air cushions.

Hyperloop is a cross between train and plane. In many ways, it is like a journey in a bullet in the barrel of a shotgun with the help of technology from the game in air hockey.

That extract through steel pipes is designed on pylons or pillars to pass through the California earthquake. These masts, which are made of reinforced concrete, will be spaced at intervals of 30 meters approx and will be at the height of 6, 15, and 30 meters, depending on the terrain.

The theory is simple: Jet planes fly at high altitudes through the air less dense, and the drag decreases. Command mask decided that the air pressure within the system must be of six times less pressure the thin atmosphere of Mars, which greatly reduces the resistance beans. In addition, the Hyperloop along Interstate I-5 in the US lowers the cost, as you do not have to buy land for people along the route.

It will have the capacity of up to 28 passengers in a capsule that does not look through real windows, but on virtual with landscape simulations. The capsules finally race through closed tubes made of steel.

It would drive several capsules in a row, as well as in trains. Of course, there will be traffic. The routes could arise along highways, such as on the green strip in the middle, so an idea. But is a man even able to endure such speeds as a pneumatic tube?

Hyperloop is interesting all over the world:

In addition, the world was big enough for several Hyperloop manufacturers, there would be several airlines. The Hyperloop is interesting all over the world, not primarily because of its speed, but because it is profitable to operate, unlike the rail system.

From when can we drive in Hyperloop – and where?

The Hyperloop could actually become reality within a short time. Several countries have already shown interest in the construction of Hyperloop One. The first operation will be in Dubai in 2020.

If we take the concept at face value, Hyperloop is an exclusively new figure of transport. Let’s say there will be such a super fast vacuum train soon.

5 Hidden WhatsApp Features you Should Know

Within a few years, WhatsApp has become one of the most popular instant messengers. But do you really know all the features of the smartphone app?

The smartphone app, WhatsApp alone is used by over one billion people worldwide to text with family and friends, send funny emojis or exchange pictures and videos. But do you really know all the features of the popular instant messaging service? As in every app, there are some “hidden features” in WhatsApp, functions that not everyone knows.

We Introduce 5 Hidden Features that Make WhatsApp Even More Practical.

# 1 – Share Live Location with Contacts:

You can already send your current location to chat partners via WhatsApp. Since October 2017, using the Share Live Location feature on the Instant Messenger app, you can also have your friends and family track your current position in real time for up to eight hours.

# 2 – Save Data Volume:

Are images or videos automatically downloaded from WhatsApp straining your mobile data volume and the already scarce storage space on your smartphone? Then, it is our recommendation to download such files only in the WLAN. For Android smartphones, in the “Settings” section under “Data Usage”, check which media can automatically download when you have a mobile data connection. You can change the settings for the Android version by clicking on the respective connection type. iPhone users go to “Settings” on “data and memory usage” and can then determine which connection they want to automatically download which type of media.

# 3 – Protect Profile Picture from Foreign Eyes:

Whether with colleagues, sports partners or the kindergarten mothers group: Everyone has one or more WhatsApp groups, in which sometimes completely unknown members frolic. You do not want such contacts to be able to see your profile picture from the last beach holiday or with your children? Then just unlock your status messages and profile pictures for contacts you really know: Under WhatsApp, under Settings, tap Account, then Privacy. In “Profile picture” instead of “Everyone” select “My Contacts” or “Nobody”.

# 4 – WhatsApp Web App:

If you are sitting at a PC or laptop with a WLAN connection all day long, you can also use WhatsApp via the web client and thus keep an eye on all messages, receive and send them, without consuming any mobile data. All you need to do is open and scan the displayed QR code on your smartphone using the app.

# 5 – Easily Find Messages:

With the flood of messages in chats, it quickly happens that you lose track and not find important messages. Luckily, App offers the ability to tag messages as favorites so they can be quickly and easily retrieved later. To mark a message as a favorite within a chat history, just tap and hold a little longer. In the menu that appears, tap the star icon – done! To view the list of all the messages you’ve marked as Favorites, in WhatsApp on iPhone, under Settings, tap Starred. For Android smartphones, you can view your favorite messages in a collective view by opening App, tapping the Menu key (Three vertical dots), and then selecting “Starred”.

Paper Signals – Technology meets Cuteness and it’s Simply Awesome!

If you love new experiments in technology, this is for you. If you love building something, this is for you. And if you love small, cute things, this is for you too! Yes, Google’s Paper Signals are a great build-it-yourself experiment you can do at home and they are so cute too!! It’s Google’s way of demonstrating how an open-source and affordable project can be used in a fun way.

What are Paper Signals

Paper Signals are small objects that you can build at home. They are a part of Google’s experiment around controlling objects with voice commands. As the name suggests, these objects are made up of paper. Inside, there is an Adafruit board, a micro servo motor, and some wires. There are different objects that can be built to tell you how the weather is, or how the bitcoin is faring or when to take a break. What’s more, they can also represent a simple countdown and can notify you when NASA launches a rocket! And yes, for crying out loud, they are cute!

How to build Paper Signals

How to build paper signals

The Paper Signal starter kit is available for less than $25. Apart from that, you need a printer to print out the templates. The printed templates can be cut to make different parts of the signals. These paper parts can be used to build the signals. The Adafruit board and micro servo motor can be connected using the wires in the kit and encased in the paper signals to make the final toy-like objects. Just keep basic craft items like scissors, rulers, pencils, etc. handy. Once built, they are ready to work for you through voice commands via the Google Assistant.

How do these signals work

How paper signals work

Apart from the objects themselves, you need a Google Assistant compatible device. You just need to tell the assistant what you need and the paper signals come to life thanks to the motor and show you what you want. So, if you ask the assistant to show you how bitcoin is doing, an arrow will go up or down. If you ask the assistant how the weather in New York is, a little pair of pants stay long if it’s cold or transform into shorts if it’s hot.

What next?

Sound easy, right? Child’s play? Google has already come up with templates and set-up instructions for a few paper signals that are currently available in the form of a kit. But if you are feeling creative, you can invent signals of your own! Just get the code here and start experimenting! The code is open-source, so you can tweak it and design your own templates to make signals of your own. If that’s not interesting enough, we don’t know what is!

Who is this for?

Well, yes, it is not rocket science. But it is a cool little experiment for all you techno-savvy people out there! You can explore and improvise this simple project. It’s also a great summer project for children to make them understand how things work. And it’s a good DIY project for almost everybody who uses technology! And more importantly, it’s affordable too!

6 tips to come up with a new app idea

Mobile apps have become an integral part of our lives today. From messaging and social media apps to shopping and news apps; from apps that help you manage your money to apps that monitor your calorie intake, apps undoubtedly are here to stay. The estimated number of Android apps available today is over 2.8 bn, whereas, over 2.2 bn apps are available with Apple’s App Store. With more than 2.4 bn smartphone users across the world, all of them actively downloading and using apps, the number of apps is estimated to increase. So, if you are also thinking of creating a new app, the time is ripe. Confused where to begin? Need some ideas to build an app? Read on.

1. Look at the existing apps

new app ideas - look at existing apps

This is an important, as well as an easy way to get ideas for a new app. It is important to know what is out there on the market. It gives you a fair idea of what is working and what is not. Also, it is completely fine to model on an existing app and remove the bugs or make it more user-friendly. Keep an eye out for customer reviews on the apps in the relevant field. They are a great way to give you an insight into what people are looking for in an app.

2. Think ahead

What do you expect people would be looking for in the future? What do you think a new app should do that currently no other is doing? If your instinct about the future requirement is right, your app could have the potential to be a leader in the particular area.

3. Have a Gameplan

We mean games. Games never go out of fashion as long as they are designed carefully. Think interesting levels, rewards, and something to hold the interest of the users for a long time. If the game entertains well, the app will do well.

4. Don’t let money be the driving factor

new app ideas - don't think about the money

It might seem weird to not think about how much you could earn from a new app before you build it. But it’s always good to focus on how you want the app to turn out instead of the money you can earn from it, at least in the beginning. Think of something that could attract a large number of users. A lot of apps do not earn money, so let money not be the only motivation behind creating an app.

5. Organize your thoughts

If you are getting lots of ideas for a new app, it’s always a good idea to maintain a record of your ideas. Write it down or use an app for it! And then, mull over these ideas, speak to your family and friends who are active app users and brainstorm.

6. Create a new app for yourself

Wish there was an app for something you struggle with every now and then, even though it’s a simple thing? Why not create one yourself? Don’t worry about other users not needing it. If the app is good, users will come. The advantage here is that you have total clarity on what you want and how you want it to be. The bugs, if any, will also be likely removed in the early stages of use.

Go start thinking about an idea now and Let there be apps!
